DRC has performed contracts for debris removal from rivers and streams throughout North Carolina, Oklahoma, Virginia, New Jersey, Texas and South Carolina.
DRC prides itself on being an all-encompassing disaster management firm, providing technical services for assistance in recovery of Federal and state funds in the aftermath of natural and man-made disasters and in providing logistical services such as ice, water, communications and other supplies, hazardous waste removal services, debris management, mortuary, evacuation and landfill management services. DRC provides training, technical assistance; satellite communications services and has a national mobile command center available to our clients, as required, in the aftermaths of substantial natural disasters. The command center contains a fully appointed conference room, satellite television, satellite telephones and a Multi-line cellular telephone communication system. It also contains a number computerized workstations plus a reception area for the public. The command center is self-contained with its own commode, water and electrical facilities. The command center can be moved anywhere in the U.S. within a few short hours.
After the Winter Ice Storms of 2001, DRC performed debris removal contracts for the cities of Hope, Arkansas; Camden, Arkansas; Benton, Arkansas; Ouachita County, Arkansas, City of Shreveport, Louisiana; Red River County, Texas; and McCurtain County, Oklahoma. In addition, following the floods in the Houston, Texas, area in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Allison DRC performed flood debris removal services for Houston (pre-event contract), Pearland and Dickinson, Texas; Clearbrook Utility District (Texas); and Slidell, Louisiana. DRC Environmental also performed hazardous materials remediation for the City of Houston.
DRC has been awarded various construction contracts in 2001 and 2002 for drainage projects, beach/dune restoration (Galveston County, Texas), and wetlands restoration (Oklahoma). DRC responded to the Floods in West Virginia in 2001 building an emergency subdivision on Tom Mountain for relocation of flood victims. In 2002, DRC also responded to the floods in Virginia by clearing road and streams of debris and waste. During 2002 and 2003 DRC performed debris reduction operations in Guam in the recovery from Typhoon Chataan and Supertyphoon Pongsona.
In 2002 and 2003, DRC completed numerous task orders under our five-year IDIQ construction and emergency services contract for the United States Coast Guard. Most recently, DRC was awarded an anti-terrorism, force protection task through the Department of Homeland Security. This contract includes the construction of perimeter security fencing, emergency power, security gates; security lighting and various force protection structures. These projects are located throughout the Eastern Seaboard on federal government installations.
As a result of Operation Iraqi Freedom, DRC has entered into several contracts in Baghdad, Iraq. The first of which is for a 150 man green field camp at the Baghdad International Airport. Another contract is in place to provide passenger screenings and check points at the airport, plus security facilities and bomb disposal facilities at Check Point One, the primary check point facility for BIAP. DRC also provided ex-British Army Ghurka soldiers contracted as armed security guards to relieve U. S. Military soldiers at the military BIAP check points. In response to these contracts, DRC recruited 53 ex-British Ghurkas from Nepal to fill the security positions at the Baghdad International Airport.
In response to the Extensive devastation caused by Hurricane Isabel, DRC was immediately tasked through its existing Pre-Event Contracts to initiate recovery and debris removal by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the State of Virginia Parks Department. DRC worked throughout eight (8) countries for VDOT and seven (7) State Parks for the Parks Department. DRC removed and processed through separation and grinding over 2,000,000 cubic yard of debris.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Charley, Frances, Jeane and Ivan in 2004 DRC contracted in excess of 30 contracts throughout the state of Florida and North Carolina. In approximately 100 days DRC removed and disposed of, in excess of, 9,000,000 cubic yards of debris (vegetative and C&D). DRC also recovered, screened and restored tens of thousands of cubic yards of displaced sand to restore 37 miles of beaches destroyed in Escambia County, Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.
DRC equipment and manpower are on standby twenty-four (24) hours per day seven (7) days per week for emergency response.
